Dear Ms. Literary Agent
I enjoyed meeting you at the gathering in Iowa last week. As I mentioned, I have had my eye on (place name of publishing here) for quite some time. That's why I did all I could to attend the conference. We met during the final pitch roundtable dicussion. I really appreaciate the insights you provided on how I could fit the romance/thriller I am working on to fit your series. Per your request, I have enclosed a synopsis and first three chapters of Bloody Love. I also included the 100,000-word tween thriller that won me the top prize in the California Writers’ League manuscript contest.
Twenty-five-year-old Joyce McClesky just walked out on her boyfriend of 5 years, quit her job, sold her house and restarted her life in North Carolina by fulfilling a lifelong dream of building a bookstore. She was just about to start feeling like she is alive again when Kevin Klutz rolls into town and starts mowing through her morning glory muffins. He became a regular in the bookstore and she appreciates the support but when Klutz slipped with his plans of buying the lot where her bookstore is on, she finds him hard to stomach. When the local government approves the sale, Joyce knew she is soon to experience another death. She knew she doesn't stand a chance against the giants but she tries and fights. It was a move with dire consequences when Klutz' body was discovered at the base of the cliff and becomes the number one suspect in the police’s search for a murderer. If Joyce doesn’t find the killer fast she stands to lose her bookstore, her freedom, her reputation, and even her life.
